Dr. Chris has been adjusting animals for over 15 years. He graduated from RMIT’s Post. Grad. Diploma in Animal Chiropractic in 2000, and has been a lecturer for the course every year since.

More commonly, he sees dogs and horses, however some of his 4-legged patients have included pet rats, ferrets, guinea pigs, a snake, camels, alpacas, kangaroos, koalas, andSiamang_9_2 (Small) siamang gibbon (Adelaide Zoo).

Whilst their spines may vary to some degree, there are significant fundamental similarities, which means that they are likely to suffer many of the problems that humans can experience. These can include sciatica, headaches, and pins and needles amongst other things, and they respond very well.

Typical Dog Problems/Scenarios
Some of the more common problems that respond well to Chiropractic include;

  • Hip dysplasia
  • Seizures
  • Dislocating kneecaps
  • Wry neck
  • Age-related arthritis
  • Trauma-related injuries
  • “Working/competition” dogs that need to perform at their peak.
  • Cauda Equina Syndrome - a serious condition presenting as paraplegia

Typical Horse Problems
These can include;

  • Lameness in general
  • Trauma-related injuries
  • Injuries associated with specific work-types (Endurance, Dressage, Eventing etc)

At the end of the day, because animals can’t tell us the detail of what’s wrong, most owners generally see signs of pain, lameness, reduced performance, or abnormal behaviours. These become common cues for owners to have their animal examined by an appropriately qualified Animal Chiropractor.

In numerous cases, the diagnosis isn’t in question, however owners may prefer to seek a drug-free, or surgery-free option, or have found the ‘usual’ treatment options have not helped.
